Like the feeling of a freshly spring cleaned home, autumn begins with a complete studio reconfiguration, including a new area rug. Someone once said a rug can really tie the room together... at any rate, a refreshed arrangement of my modular setup featuring greater ergonomic feng shui offers loads of new inspiration. My setup also includes a new module addition of which all percussion in this piece comes from. The Basimilus Iteritas Magnus, used very sparingly and run through a Mankato Filter and spring verb for some added grit, creates the somewhat dystopian rhythmic backbone for "Vacancy Above." Between both restrained percussion and brooding tones, this release has a similar vibe with a previous Downscope work entitled "Mutes." Another similarity worth noting is how the track "Swash Plate" conjures up similar tonality to that of the "Sleeping Ions" series.

This album represents the life journey of missed opportunities or goals set that fell short. From a theological perspective, it tells the tale of a sudden vacancy in heaven that has opened due to someone's reservation not being kept. The track titles are named after parts that make up various common modes of human transportation, a suggested alternative attempt to making it to your final destination via machine.
