about

Natus is a 3-piece collection of lengthy dub techno tracks celebrating concepts of renewal, rebirth and the measurement of time. I see these tracks as sonic discourses presenting a smeared view of passing time, like a blurred sunrise. A sunrise typically takes only two minutes, from the moment you first see the tip of the Sun until it appears completely full. But can it be enjoyed in an altered, longer duration based on perception?

If time is merely a measurement created by humankind, does that mean the mind itself can perceive time differently?

We often see time as going faster with age. Activities that engage our minds have the power to alter our perception of time. Each natus moment (nautus meaning "born" in Latin) in this collection offers a different experience to pass time, gauge it, or completely dismiss the pedestrian measurement altogether.

Lately my compositions have been freed from time restraints, reaching a more traditional compact disc length as a threshold. I find the notion of "getting lost" in a piece that smoothly materializes with an elastic framework to be an enriching experience both in the recording sessions as well as when being played back. While the consumption of the material may require more dedication from the listener, the rewarding aspect of a deeper sensory experience makes the journey worthwhile.

Take time, escape time, and enjoy the ride at whatever pace you perceive.
