about

Imported from Japan are synthesizer recordings composed by Nozomi Kishimoto from when she was a student back in 1993. Her early tracks were created with a Roland keyboard hooked up to a computer, only to be archived through generations of hard drives.
Upon hearing the dramatic, predominantly minor note compositions I wanted to use them as the core backdrop for what has become Hallowed Ground; a dark ambient soundtrack with elements of dub techno mixed within.
My hopes were to preserve the emotive outer worldly tones in the original pieces while adding more organic soundscapes that lie somewhere between life and lifelessness or, as apparent in the cover photo, where life once was. The evocative cover photo was taken by photographer Jane Eyre from the Illwad forest of Selestat, France.
