Compliance is the ability of a hollow organ (vessel) to distend and increase volume with increasing transmural pressure or the tendency of a hollow organ to resist recoil toward its original dimensions on application of a distending or compressing force. It is the reciprocal of "elastance", hence elastance is a measure of the tendency of a hollow organ to recoil toward its original dimensions upon removal of a distending or compressing force.

This album revisits the concept of sound emanating from within the human body (see also Shortness of Breath and Inner Velocity). The complex biological machine that is always pumping and churning liquids and chemical reactions is always at work even when on is in the most lethargic state. The three lengthy tracks featured on Compliance focus more on repetition, inducing a numb-like consciousness with its loopy swirled granular trails and rhythmic pulses.
